Mardi Gras Indians 101 Runners featuring Big Chief Monk Boudreaux
A faction of the New Orleans cultural phenomena collectively known as Mardi Gras Indians, the
101 Runners, will deliver its unique fusion of tribal rhythms and swampy voodoo funk with a pair
of shows in two of Arkansas most historic landmarks. A Hot Springs performance Friday, February
25, at the Arlington Hotel Resort & Spa marks the Indians' Central Arkansas debut, followed by the
following night's rematch at Little Rock's Historic Dreamland Ballroom on Saturday, February 26.
Both celebrations begin at 7 p.m.
Featuring Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, the Biggest of the Big Chiefs and the current Godfather of
Mardi Gras Indian Funk, and decades-long collaborator with Wild Magnolias Bo Dollis, the 101
Runners are among a rare breed of living relics celebrating bloodlines with storylines dating back
to the roots and origins of the Big Easy. Through the universal language of music, the Runners,
self-described as a "heavy percussive Indian funk band," link past with present by combining
hypnotic sounds, mesmerizing costumes and centuries-old traditional lore with hip-shaking seductive
undertones and electrified New Orleans funk grooves.
